Hooray for the Internet!

I thought I’d share a few of the things I’ve been enjoying on the internet lately.

#What I’m reading

[Keeping Kids From Toy Guns: How One Mother Changed Her Mind – Atlantic Mobile](http://m.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/08/keeping-kids-from-toy-guns-how-one-mother-changed-her-mind/278518/) – This is an interesting article discussing the zero-tolerance stance many schools take these days on guns and whether it is actually beneficial. The most thought provoking line:

“There is no easy answer when my Japanese friends wonder at the paradox of our banning gun play when we do not ban the guns that kill thousands of children and teens in the U.S. each year.”

[A place you can always return to | Simple Mom](http://simplemom.net/a-place-you-can-always-return-to/) – This is a sweet story about a couple’s favorite place. My favorite line:

“…the moonlight sets in, and we look at each other in wonder as our exhaustion overcomes us, and we remember that our girls will wake us early the next morning, and we should probably head home. And the silent, shared gratitude is there, too.”

It reminds me that even as life circumstances change in a relationship, there is blessing to be found in all of it.

#Over on [My Sister Says](http://www.mysistersays.co)

[My Sister Says | School is Back in Session](http://mysistersays.co/2013/08/26/school-is-back-in-session/) – My sister Carly wrote about some good back to school supplies. Many of them could also work for anyone needing to get organized.

[My Sister Says | Tools to Change the World](http://mysistersays.co/2013/08/19/tools-to-change-the-world/) – I wrote an editorial inspired by the latest Apple keynote address.

#What I’m cooking

[How To Cook A Frozen Roast Without Thawing | The Mommypotamus](http://www.mommypotamus.com/how-to-cook-a-frozen-roast-without-thawing/) – This was pretty easy and quick to put together. And it turned out to have a lot of flavor. We’ll make it again.

[all things simple: apple carrot muffins](http://kimmccrary.blogspot.com/2011/11/apple-carrot-muffins.html) – Minus the coconut and plus some oats. These were delicious. One tip: if you have a food processor with a grater attachment – use it. I didn’t think to use mine until I was almost done grating the last carrot by hand and my arms were feeling a little noodle-like.
